this evening at our AGM history was again made
when Past

became our first lady to
convene an AGM

Every year our social
convenor Past
President John McKillop
brings this supper all
together
and he does a wonderful job
which we are all appreciative
of. Introductions by President
James McGall
then club member Malcolm
Macaskill got our
evening off to a great start
with his 'Toast
tae the Haggis' ably assisted
by 'Will the fluter' and
haggis bearer Alex Latimer.
Our main speaker of the
evening, the Immortal memory,
was delivered to us in rhyme
by Bobby Jess,
truly wonderful and he also
performed a spoof of 'Tam O
Shanter' called 'Tam the bike"
which was very funny.
Jim Torrancea
Past President of Halfway
& District BC had the
company in
stitches with his hilarious
Toast tae the Lassies, Oor
Torry never
fails to deliver and matures
wi' age. Our other
invited guest, Neil
McGilvary gave a
magnificent rendition of Tam
O Shanter and later in the
evening followed that with
Red red rose.
The whole evening was
interspiced with excellent
music from Robbie
Robertson who
thoroughly entertained the
audience with his lovely
singing. A guest artist
for the evening was also Rev.Neil
Glover who sang two
songs accompanied by Robbie on
guitar.
Rev.Neil is parish minister at
nearby Flemington-Hallside
Church and as
he was 'working' in the
morning he left at 10pm... to
a standing
ovation.
A great deal of work went on
behind the scenes and sincere
thanks goto Social convenor
Johnny McKillop, club
secretary Ann
Phillips, treasurer Peter
Phillips and President James
for setting up the hall, which
looked superb. Thanks
also to Ann Phillips, Eileen
McArthur,
Senga Robinson, Liz Chambers,
May McKillop, Rena Hoggan, Ann
Dunsmore, Margaret Mitchell
who all helped serve the fare
prepared by our
caterers. Thanks
also to everyone who donated a
raffle prize.
The vote of thanks was
delivered by Secretary
Ann Phillips an
relatively easy job, such was
the standard set by everyone
at the top table.
Nonetheless the vote of thanks
gave Ann the opportunity on
behalf of all the guests to
show their appreciation to all
of the
artists, and this she did with
aplomb!
