New members 2022
~ ~ ~
We had our
Opening Day on Saturday 02nd April, 2022 and after two years of covid
restrictions it was wonderful to see so many friends and
members at the
club. President Andy Robinson was welcomed onto the green by club
secretary Ann Phillips.
Visitors from local clubs were present as were Bowling Reps from the
Glasgow Bowls and Rutherglen Bowls Associations, Past Provost
Russell Clearie and his wife Past Depute Provost Pam Clearie.
A great day for bowling, dry weather and hospitality all added to a very enjoyable afternoon.
President Robinson thanked all who attended and thanked Hon.President
Peter Phillips who worked tirelessly all day at the bar,
Hon.President Ian Skillen who organised the bowling and Secretary Ann
Phillips for all the work they do for the Bowling Club.
Sadly we learned that member Willie Johnston passed away in the early
hours and in remembrance the flag was lowered to half mast.

Sadly
long time member Willie Johnston passed away on Saturday 2nd
April. Condolences to his wife Jessie and sons Alan &
Colin.
Willie, a character 'by the way', had an association with our club for over 40 years.
He was very well known throughout the area and had many friends not
only in our club but also, in Halfway & Whitefield Bowling Clubs.
His wife Jessie is a Lady Past President and their sons Alan & Colin are also club members. Willie
won many bowling competitions in his hey-day and he sadly lost his best
friend, another Cambuslang bowler, Gordon Dick six years ago in 2016.
Funeral details are: Friday 8th April, |
9am, Cambuslang Parish Church |
|
10am, Daldowie Crematorium |
|
Thereafter to Cambuslang Masonic Hall, Tabernacle Lane. |
